Dog and Cat Vaccinations in Terre Haute, IN
At Brown Veterinary Hospital, we’re dedicated to providing compassionate, personalized, comprehensive care and customer service to local pets and their families. We want you and your precious pet to enjoy many happy and healthy years together. That’s why one of our top priorities is providing preventative care to companion animals, which includes dog and cat vaccinations.
Why Should My Dog and Cat Vaccinated?
Vaccinations are a vital part of any pet’s healthcare plan. Vaccines are designed to supply your pet’s immune system with disease-fighting antibodies. These antibodies provide your pet with an additional layer of protection and better equip them to fight off diseases that they may come in contact with. Fully vaccinating your pet will help to protect them from many potentially fatal illnesses such as rabies, parvovirus, Lyme, and many others.
Personalized Pet Vaccination Protocols
Our vets firmly believe in a personalized approach to veterinary care. We know that no two pets are exactly alike. The vaccination needs of your pet will vary depending upon their age, activity level, health status, lifestyle, the likelihood of disease exposure, etc.
Here’s an example of how our vets could customize your pet’s vaccination protocol: The rabies and DHHP vaccines are considered to be essential, or core, vaccines. Vets will require these two vaccines regardless of your pet’s lifestyle. Vaccines for Bordetella and Lyme, however, are considered to be non-core. If your pet is always indoors and never visits the dog park, a boarding facility, or day care, then there’s no need for them to receive vaccinations for these two diseases because their risk of exposure is low. However, if you and your dog take many long hikes together and you go to the dog park on a regular basis, then they’ll need to receive both vaccinations.
Our vet will be sure to ask you a series of questions to thoroughly assess your dog’s or cat’s needs before recommending a vaccination schedule tailored specifically for your companion. If you have any questions about pet vaccines or if you’d like to schedule an appointment, we invite you to give us a call. We hope to see you and your furry friend soon!
Ultra-Brand Vaccines
All of our vaccines except for rabies are Ultra brand, which means they use a 0.5 ml dose instead of a 1.0 ml dose. That means we can administer these vaccines more quickly, and with much less discomfort, to minimize your pet’s stress. Despite using a smaller dose, our Ultra vaccines are just as effective as vaccines that use a 1.0 ml dose. Please contact us if you have any questions about these vaccines.
