I was born and raised in the wonderful city of Terre Haute. I graduated from Terre Haute North in 2004. My calling was in veterinary medicine so I moved to Denver, Colorado to attend Bel-Rea Institute of Veterinary Technology. After graduation in 2009, I moved back to Indiana and worked in the Noblesville area for about two years before coming home to be closer to family. I continued my education at Indiana State University in business, completed the Veterinary Practice Management courses at Purdue University, and became a Certified Veterinary Practice Manager (CVPM) in 2019. In my free time I love spending time with my husband and 2 daughters.

Courtney

Education: International Business College Vet Tech Institute
Hometown: Terre Haute
Pets: Layla, Willow

Hello! My name is Courtney. I have been a Registered Veterinary Technician here at Brown Veterinary Hospital since May 2014. I graduated in 2012 from International Business College Vet Tech Institute in Indianapolis. Growing up I always said I was going to be a vet. Although I didn’t quite go that far with my education, I thoroughly enjoy working with animals on a daily basis! My job is never repetitive and there is always something new to learn and help with. I’m very happy to be working here at Brown Vet Hospital.

Aside from working, I am a very proud mom to a little boy named Jace. I really love being a mommy! He’s my pride and joy! He’s filled with energy and always happy, which makes coming home to him very rewarding. I also have a Chihuahua named Layla. She’s my four-legged baby!

In my free time, I love to do projects around the house and make lots of messes. I love exercising and making healthier life style changes as well! I’m a very big family person, so every chance we have, we spend it with our loved ones.

Danielle

Registered Veterinary Technician

Education:  Bel-Rea Institute of Veterinary Technology
Hometown:  Terre Haute
Pets:  Piper Lilly (Boxer), Rollo (Pitbull mix), Dodie (Rat Terrier), and Phoebe (Pitbull)

I am one of the Registered Veterinary Technicians here at Brown Veterinary Hospital. I was pre-veterinary at Indiana State University for 3 years before making the decision to change degrees and enroll at Bel-Rea Institute of Veterinary Technology in Denver, CO. After graduating in 2008 I completed an internship at the Indianapolis Zoo Veterinary Hospital. My husband, Travis, moved with me to Colorado to pursue my dream of veterinary medicine; he is a wonderful husband and father. Our two beautiful children, Reagan and Avery, keep us on our toes on a daily basis. Our old and wise, black and white Boxer, Piper Lilly still has the energy of a puppy and keeps up with our children and loves them very much. Rollo, a rescue pit bull mix, joined the family in 2015- he is such a sweet handsome goofball and became best friends with the kids.

When I’m not at the hospital I enjoy being a mother and running trails. I grew up with all kinds of animals and going into veterinary medicine was a goal I set for myself. I enjoy our clients and the stories they share with us about their pets.  I love the constant advances happening in veterinary medicine; these advances allow me to not only keep patient care a number one priority but also make me excel as an RVT.

Sarah

Technician

Hometown: Chicago, IL

Pets: Gunner, Kimber, Cabela, Kristopher, Mittens, Gracie, Gordy, Peanut, JoJo, and Sissy

Hello! I’ve been with the Brown family since 2019. I moved to the area from the suburbs of Chicago where I was raised to live with my husband.

While we have no human children yet we do have a very full house! We currently have 3 large dogs (Gunnar, Kimber, and Cabela) and 7 cats (Kristopher, Mittens, Gracie, Gordy, Peanut, JoJo, and Sissy) of our own. I am also an avid cat rescuer so we always have fosters in our home. We are never empty nesting! I especially enjoy rescuing kittens and taking on medical cases, like the injured. Growing up I had one childhood cat, Dumpling, but I always found ways to be involved with animals. I have a huge heart when it comes to animals so it’s a blessing to get to do this for my career, and the tools it provides me to do my rescue work is priceless. I live for the motto “Saving one animal won’t change the world, but it will change the world for that one animal.”

Outside of living and breathing for animals I enjoy hiking with my husband and our dogs! I also love to read and travel. My favorite places are Islamorada and Lake Tahoe, but I can’t wait to visit Ireland!

Sandy

Veterinary Assistant

Education: US Career Institute
Hometown: Rockville, IN
Pets: Zena, Zoey, Zeus, Scooter, and Theo

I was born in California but grew up with a love of animals here in Indiana.  We have raised and rehabilitated many different types of animals and wildlife including monkeys, squirrels, skunks, opossums, and deer… just to name a few.  I was an active 10 year 4-H member showing horses, sheep, and pigs.  I also had the honor of being Indiana’s Suffolk Queen.  I continued being active with the 4-H program as a Master Showman Judge.

I received my certification as an Animal Care Specialist/Veterinary Assistant in May of 2012 from US Career Institute and am very excited to be part of Brown Veterinary Hospital.

I love spending time with my boyfriend Mike and my daughter, Lexi. We enjoy vacationing together, especially where it’s warm and tropical.  We also keep busy gearing up for the 4-H fair during the summer months. Our pets consist of three dogs (Zena, Zoey, and Zeus) and 2 cats (Scooter and Theo).

Deana

Veterinary Assistant

Bio coming soon.

Rileigh

Veterinary Assistant

I was born and raised in Terre Haute. My whole life I’ve been around animals. I was an active 10 year 4-H member where I showed goats. I went to Terre Haute South for 3 years but graduated at a different school. I have an associates degree from Ivy Tech and I plan to further my education to become a dermatologist.

Outside of work, I enjoy spending time with my pets. I have a retriever mix named Bear. I also have four cats; Wilson, Kirby, Cheeto, and Maestro. Maestro was a cat that was staying with us at Brown Vet until he could find a home. Since I’m a kennel attendant I was taking care of him every day, which created a strong bond. It was strong enough that I finally decided to take him home with me. Since then he has become the best cuddle buddy.

Amanda

Kennel Attendant

Hometown: Washington, IN

Pets: Snow and Rocco

It was by chance and a leap of faith that I began working at Brown Veterinary Hospital. I was exhausted of just going through the motions of long work days, and wanted to find a work home that I truly felt appreciated and welcome. Everyone on the team here is so inspiring with their knowledge and care. I have previously worked with shelter animals, and in boarding/grooming so I can, without a doubt, say that my passion is with animals. I have completed nearly two semesters of veterinary technology with Penn Foster and I hope that I’ll be able to finish the program one day. When I’m not helping with your pets at the hospital, I’ve got my hands full at home with daughters Rhyan and Brightyn. Seeing them grow up is the honor of my life. Along with my human children, I have Snow (maltese mix) and Rocco (beagle mix).

Mackenzie

Kennel Attendant

Hometown: Medina, OH

Pets: Kyna, Rayna, Hank

Hi! I’m Mackenzie. I am from Ohio, but just recently moved to Terre Haute with my husband. I have been around animals my whole life. I showed horses in 4-H and have raised many cats and dogs at my family’s farm. I have had a passion for helping animals. I went to school to be a veterinarian for a couple of years at the University of Findlay, where I had the opportunity to be involved in taking care of and treating many different farm animals. It was there that I realized I loved caring for animals from the technician side of things. I am wanting to go back to school to be a technician hopefully in the near future, but for now, I love my place at BVH. Aside from my passion for animals, I enjoy playing soccer, challenging myself with drawing and painting, and I love to sit and read a good book. My husband, Tyler, and I have two cats (Kyna and Rayna) and a very energetic Blue Heeler-mix dog (Hank). We are very family-oriented, so whenever we have free time, we like to spend it with our loved-ones.

Sherman

King of All He Surveys

Hometown: Terre Haute
Pets: Dr. Brown

My name is Sherman and I run this place. I was a stray and the people at the Terre Haute Humane Society brought me here to see Dr. Brown.  I had a broken back leg that did not heal correctly and it had to be amputated. I was able to persuade these ladies with my good looks and charm to let me crash here.

My hobbies consist of watching squirrels at the door, sleeping, sitting on other cats’ carriers and eating! I really like to eat! Dr. Brown said I like it too much and she put me on a strict diet. So now I make sure I never miss a meal!

Occasionally I like to follow people and their pets into exam rooms. I then put on an Oscar-worthy performance of a starving cat to get more treats!

I love all the girls here, but they like to humiliate me and dress me in costumes and sweaters. I don’t know why they insist on doing this. Who would want to cover up this body!

Binx

Clinic Cat

Education: The Streets

Hometown: Terre Haute

Hi, I’m Binx and I showed up one day and walked right in the side door. I decided that this would be a good place to live and I never left. I enjoy treats and cuddling with all the clients. I try to be friends with all the pets that come in, but some don’t like me. I look forward to laying on your lap soon while you pamper me.
