Kelsie

Registered Veterinary Technician

Education: Harrison College
Hometown: Terre Haute
Pets: Aurelius, Mordecai, and Shifu

I am a Registered Veterinary Technician here at Brown Veterinary Hospital. I graduated from Harrison College Veterinary Technician program in 2014. I have worked in shelter medicine, other clinics in Terre Haute, and a practice in Wisconsin where they offered alternative treatments like acupuncture and spinal manipulative therapy. I enjoy being in surgery and monitoring anesthesia, but I also have a soft spot for shelter medicine since that is how I started in the veterinary field. When I am not at the hospital my husband and I like to travel and spend time with our three dogs: Aurelius the pit bull, Mordecai the saint bernard, and Shifu the shiba inu; our kitten Benjamin Button; our 14 chickens; and 6 fish.

Danielle

Registered Veterinary Technician

Education: Bel-Rea Institute of Veterinary Technology
Hometown: Terre Haute
Pets: Sir Flash McBaron (Boxer) Rollo (Pitbull mix)

I am one of the Registered Veterinary Technicians here at Brown Veterinary Hospital. I was pre-veterinary at Indiana State University for 3 years before making the decision to change degrees and enroll at Bel-Rea Institute of Veterinary Technology in Denver, CO. After graduating in 2008 I completed an internship at the Indianapolis Zoo Veterinary Hospital. My husband, Travis, moved with me to Colorado to pursue my dream of veterinary medicine; he is a wonderful husband and father. Our two beautiful children, Reagan and Avery, keep us on our toes on a daily basis. Rollo, a rescue pit bull mix, joined the family in 2015- he is such a sweet handsome goofball and became best friends with the kids. Flash is our lovable boxer who loves playing tag with the kids. He has the best butt wiggles.

When I’m not at the hospital I enjoy being a mother and walking trails.

I grew up with all kinds of animals and going into veterinary medicine was a goal I set for myself. I enjoy our clients and the stories they share with us about their pets. I love the constant advances happening in veterinary medicine; these advances allow me to not only keep patient care a number one priority, but also make me excel as an RVT.

Hi, I’m Emily! I’m new to Terre Haute having recently moved from Indianapolis but I’ve been a Registered Veterinary Technician for 10 years. I graduated from Harrison College in 2011 and I’ve had pets of all different kinds. I grew up in the small town of Pittsboro, Indiana, (home of NASCAR driver Jeff Gordon and Olympic gymnast Bridget Sloan) about 25 miles west of Indy. Now I’m always learning something new and I get to help animals and their people!

I’m currently a cat mom to an orange tabby (my favorite) named Nimbus.

In my spare time I enjoy spending time with my boyfriend, playing video games, reading novels, and singing. I also volunteer at a local horse sanctuary whenever I can. My passions in veterinary medicine include pain management, behavioral health, and learning exotic animal medicine.

Sarah

Technician

Hometown: Chicago, IL

Pets: Gunnar, Kimber, Cabela, Kristopher, Mittens, Gracie, Gordy, Peanut, JoJo, and Sissy

Hello! I’ve been with the Brown family since 2019. I moved to the area from the suburbs of Chicago where I was raised to live with my husband.

While we have no human children yet we do have a very full house! We currently have 3 large dogs (Gunnar, Kimber, and Cabela) and 7 cats (Kristopher, Mittens, Gracie, Gordy, Peanut, JoJo, and Sissy) of our own. I am also an avid cat rescuer so we always have fosters in our home. We are never empty nesting! I especially enjoy rescuing kittens and taking on medical cases, like the injured. Growing up I had one childhood cat, Dumpling, but I always found ways to be involved with animals. I have a huge heart when it comes to animals so it’s a blessing to get to do this for my career, and the tools it provides me to do my rescue work is priceless. I live for the motto “Saving one animal won’t change the world, but it will change the world for that one animal.” Outside of living and breathing for animals I enjoy hiking with my husband and our dogs! I also love to read and travel. My favorite places are Islamorada and Lake Tahoe, but I can’t wait to visit Ireland!

Sandy

I was born in California but grew up with a love of animals here in Indiana. We have raised and rehabilitated many different types of animals and wildlife including monkeys, squirrels, skunks, opossums, and deer… just to name a few. I was an active 10 year 4-H member showing horses, sheep, and pigs. I also had the honor of being Indiana’s Suffolk Queen. I continued being active with the 4-H program as a Master Showman Judge.

I received my certification as an Animal Care Specialist/Veterinary Assistant in May of 2012 from US Career Institute and am very excited to be part of Brown Veterinary Hospital.

I love spending time with my boyfriend Mike and my daughter, Lexi. We enjoy vacationing together, especially where it’s warm and tropical. Our pets consist of 2 dogs (Zena and Zoey) and 1 cat (Theo).

Rileigh

Veterinary Assistant

Hometown: Terre Haute,
Pets: Bear, Maestro

Hey guys! My name is Rileigh and I have been working at Brown Veterinary Hospital since the beginning of 2019! I have always had a passion of working with animals, so this is the perfect place for me. I grew up always being around animals. I was a 4-H member showing goats from my aunt’s farm. My hopes for the future would be to continue working with animals and gradually work towards working with exotics!

Outside of work, I love spending time with my own pets. I have one dog and four cats. I actually found one of my cats, Maestro, through working at Brown. When I was a kennel attendant I was taking care of him every single day, so we bonded quickly. Ever since I have brought him home he has been my little sidekick. I even taught him how to play fetch with a string.

I can’t wait to meet your pets!

P.S. The sassy ones are my favorites

Heather

Veterinary Assistant

Hometown: Greencastle, IN
Pets: Rudy, Millie

Hi, I’m Heather! I I am new on the block, and have recently started my career here in 2023. My first wish as a child was to have a career working with animals. I have an associates of applied science in agriculture, but realized the animal and veterinary side was my calling after meeting my loving Devon Rex companion, Rudy. Rudy also has a Devon Rex sister named Millie, so our household definitely has our hands full. My cats are my main priority and life outside of work; they are truly my family and I love them dearly. I have worked at a couple other clinics, but I feel working for Brown in a hospital setting was what my heart has been looking for. Working with animals brings me joy and doesn’t quite feel like work to me. Going to work every day and helping the animals people love puts a smile on my face. I am currently enrolled in a veterinary technician program with Penn Foster and plan to become a RVT. My passion is helping others find the best care for their companions so they can lead happy and healthy lives. My goal is to learn and grow through working for Brown Veterinary Hospital and I cannot wait to see what the future holds for me.

Sherman

King of All He Surveys

Hometown: Terre Haute
Pets: Dr. Brown

My name is Sherman and I run this place. I was a stray and the people at the Terre Haute Humane Society brought me here to see Dr. Brown.  I had a broken back leg that did not heal correctly and it had to be amputated. I was able to persuade these ladies with my good looks and charm to let me crash here.

My hobbies consist of watching squirrels at the door, sleeping, sitting on other cats’ carriers and eating! I really like to eat! Dr. Brown said I like it too much and she put me on a strict diet. So now I make sure I never miss a meal!

Occasionally I like to follow people and their pets into exam rooms. I then put on an Oscar-worthy performance of a starving cat to get more treats!

I love all the girls here, but they like to humiliate me and dress me in costumes and sweaters. I don’t know why they insist on doing this. Who would want to cover up this body!

Binx

Clinic Cat

Education: The Streets

Hometown: Terre Haute

Hi, I’m Binx and I showed up one day and walked right in the side door. I decided that this would be a good place to live and I never left. I enjoy treats and cuddling with all the clients. I try to be friends with all the pets that come in, but some don’t like me. I look forward to laying on your lap soon while you pamper me.
